PERU 2019 is Woodlawn’s next international trip! We will raise funds to lower the collective cost, which is coming in around $3300 at the moment. I am very optimistic we will be able to lower the total cost.
Payment collection dates as follows: May 15 - July 1, July 15 - Sept 4, Sept - Oct 15 at $1000 increments.
The tip money ($200) is collected two weeks before departure.
The first payment reserves your student’s spot.
This price includes flights - international & domestic, all hotels, 8 meals, all entrance and activity fees.
All but $500 may be refunded through June 30. After 6/30/18, we would work to find a replacement traveler.

Itinerary for FEB 26 - MAR 5, 2019:
Day 1. Arrive in Lima - stay in the Callao district.
Day 2. Domestic flight to Cusco - get acquainted with the town and altitude!
Days 3-4. Two days in the town of Aguas Calientes visiting Machu Picchu!!
Days 5-6. Two days in town of Cusco visiting Ollantaytambo ruins and small town market visit.*
Ollantaytambo — located in the Sacred Valley, a town and an Inca archaeological site in southern Peru some 45 mi by road northwest of the city of Cusco. It is located at an altitude of 9,160 ft above sea level. Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti, who conquered the region, and built the town and a ceremonial center.
**Excursion in place of Rainbow Mtn: Tour the markets where they sell fruits, vegetables, chickens, flowers, and gardening supplies. We will taste fruits and vegetables unique to Peru such as passion fruit, lucma, and chirimoya. We will also learn about the ingredients needed to make chicha, a corn beer that has been an important part of Peruvian culture since Inca times. After visiting the local market, we will visit a local chicheria, and taste chicha and see the guinea pigs that live in the kitchens of many locals.
Traditional Peruvian lunch in the city. After lunch, we will visit the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales de Cusco, which is a non-profit organization founded to support the long standing tradition of weaving in Peru and to help the locals that produce them. There is a small but excellent museum, which will teach us about the history of weaving, and you can also see live demonstrations of weaving and have a chance to purchase beautiful artisan products.
Finally, we visit San Pedro market where we will also learn about and see medicinal plants that have been around since Inca times and are still in use today.
Day 7. Domestic flight to Lima. Visit cathedrals and the water circuit.
Water Circuit — The Magic Water Circuit has the Guinness Book record for the largest fountain complex in the world, displaying 13 distinct fountains and many are interactive. All of the fountains are illuminated at night, many with continuously changing color schemes. A colorful laser light program synchronized with classical and Peruvian music makes the fountains sparkle and shine as the water flows in unique patterns and shapes.
Day 8. Return to Charlotte.
Trip is open to students in grades 8-12 with first priority and then WL parents and siblings.
